Global Schools Foundation has been offering scholarships since its inception in Singapore. Since the last ten years, the Foundation has opened up these scholarships for deserving students from India.
Scholarship is offered for which class and curriculum?
The scholarship being offered is for senior secondary level; Classes 11 and 12 for IB Diploma Programme and CBSE. Students undertaking any Board in India can apply for the scholarship.
How many scholarships will be given in 2020?
The number of scholarships will be decided by a Scholarship Committee specially set up for this programme.
What is the total worth of scholarship and what does it include?
The scholarship amount is S$ 90,000 per student, which includes tuition fees, boarding, lodging and travel expenses for the two-year scholarship.
What does the scholarship amount include?
The scholarship amount includes a one-time return airfare & visa fee, tuition fee, and boarding & lodging at the hostel, one-time settling allowance and pocket allowance per month for daily expenses.
Does GIIS provide students with opportunities for other activities besides academic focus?
GIIS has adopted an award-winning 9GEMS educational framework which provides holistic learning to students to make them well-rounded individuals. Do I need to have a passport?
Yes, you need to have a passport with enough blank pages, and it should be valid for at least three (3) years from 15 May, 2020.
Who will manage the visa formalities?
GIIS will manage all the visa formalities for travel to Singapore.
Who will pay for the visa fee?
GIIS will pay for the visa fee.
Who will pay for the airfare?
GIIS will pay for a one-way ticket to Singapore at the start of the course/session, and one-way ticket from Singapore at the end of the course.
What is the process of application?
The application will involve an online exam followed by an interview. Following is the chronology:
- 16th June 2020: Webinar on online exam schedule
- 20th June 2020: Online Exam
- End June 2020: Declaration of results for the Online Exam. Interview calls will be sent to successful candidates only.
- First week of July 2020: Interviews* (Tentative)
· August End/September 1st Week 2020: Final departure of selected students*(Tentative)
*The Interview and departure dates will be based on the prevailing situation at that time and travel guidelines issued by the government.

How many students are enrolled at GIIS in Singapore?
The school has completed over 16 years since its inception in 2002. The school has over 4000 students across its 3 campuses - SMART Campus, Punggol, East Coast and Mountbatten.
Do students need to carry cash?
Students have a choice to carry with them cash/money as permitted by Singapore Government rules. But it is advisable to carry a minimum of S$500 for initial expenses.
Do I need to have a medical insurance?
GIIS will provide subsidised medical benefits for each candidate after the Student Pass is issued. The Medical Insurance will cover basic aliments.
Will the parents/guardians be allowed to accompany students to Singapore for the first time until they are settled?
Parents are NOT allowed to accompany the students. GIIS encourages students to mingle with their fellow students. A senior and responsible GIIS staff member will accompany students to Singapore who shall keep updating the status of transit at regular intervals until they have reached Singapore.
What are the arrangements at the student's hostel?
The student hostel is a safe and well-equipped facility fully designed with students’ interests in mind. Following arrangements are made at the hostel:
- Male and Female students have separate living arrangements
- A lady warden is stationed 24x7 in the girls’ hostel to take adequate care of the female students
- Each student will share a room with at least two other students. The room will have a wardrobe and storage space allocated to each student
- The hostel is situated in a private condominium which is equipped with surveillance cameras, security guards and smart cards for entry and exit into the premises
- Hostel rooms have a living area for social activities, a laundry area for washing and drying clothes and a pantry area for heating and consuming food.
- Washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, dinner table, television sets are available for students
- Each student is expected to carry their own personal device like a laptop. They can use wifi facilities in the hostel free of cost to avail the internet.

What is the flow of stipend and how is it provided?
The stipend is a monthly flow of money which is transferred to the students’ bank account through approved online means directly. The amount provided under the scholarship is sufficient for students to meet their living expenses.
Can students visit their relatives?
Yes, they are allowed to visit relatives with the approval of the warden. Parents will have to send an email request to the warden about the visit, following which the warden will take appropriate action and get an approval.
What will the students do during long vacations? Will they be allowed to come back to India during vacations?
Usually, students visit their home countries during long vacations. Students can go back to India at their own expense.
Can the scholarship be terminated?
A student may lose the scholarship if he/she fails to perform academically and in other activities. A suitable warning will be issued to the student on the performance. If no improvement is noted, the scholarship will be terminated as per the discretion of the management.
Can the students undertake part-time work while studying in Singapore?
No, part-time work is strictly prohibited.
