The Mahatma Gandhi Global Indian Eklavya School is a joint initiative of the Singapore-based Global Schools Foundation (GSF) and state Government of Gujarat, India. It is a tribal school situated in western India's tribal area at Tilakwada, about 65 km from Baroda in the State of Gujarat. The school was a result of a suggestion given personally by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, requesting GSF to do undertake education in the remotest part of India.
Late Dr L M Singhvi (Founding President, GSF), Prof. MGK Menon (President, GSF) and Justice C S Dharmadhikari (Vice President, GSF) decided to take the Tilakwada tribal school as a concept to bring in education excellence to the tribal students. The Central Government of India and State Government of Gujarat jointly fund the school.
